Canada Sri Ayyappan Hindu temple is a non-profit religious organization registered in 1994 in the province of Ontario. The goal of the organization is to have a traditional Hindu temple based on the preachings of Lord Ayyappa and to impart religious, educational and cultural values of Hindu Dharma to our community and future generations.

About the Pilgrimage: The devotee who wants to go to Sabarimala should speak truth, take only vegetarian food and remain a celibate by vow for a period of 41 days before the pilgrimage. On the way to Sabarimala Hills the pilgrim goes on repeating Saranam Ayyappa which means Ayyappa - you are my sole refuge throughout the journey. About the Shrine: The shrine is open only during specific period in a year. It is open from Mid- November to Mid-January and for first five days of every Malayalam month.

The male pilgrims are called 'Ayyappan' and the female pilgrims are called 'Malikappuram'.

Festivals: Makara Vilakku
The most important festival at the Ayyapppa temple on Sabarimala is Makara Vilakku. It is a seven-day festival, beginning on the day of Makara Sankranthi, the day when the sun is in summer solstice. According to legend, the idol of Dharma Shastha was enshrined in the temple on this day.
